How to get natural Russian out of Syntic models, and what to check before you ship. The general rules for every language are on Work in other languages.

Token useMeasure with token counting on your own text; non-Latin scripts and long compounds usually take more tokens per sentence than English.

Register and form of address

Вы (capitalised in direct correspondence) is the polite form for customers; ты is for casual apps. Choose and keep it.

Numbers, dates and currency

Decimal comma, space for thousands (1 234,50 ₽). Dates: 5 ноября 2026 г. or 05.11.2026. Quotation marks «ёлочки».

Common pitfalls

  • Case endings change nouns after numbers (1 товар, 2 товара, 5 товаров). Template strings that insert numbers need the model or your code to inflect correctly.
  • Ё vs Е: decide whether to write ё consistently; it affects search matching.
  • Gendered past tense for the user (вы сделали is safe; ты сделал/сделала is not).

A system prompt line that works

Writing the language instruction in Russian itself is a strong signal:

Отвечай на русском языке, обращайся к пользователю на «Вы», кратко и вежливо.

(Answer in Russian, addressing the user as Вы, briefly and politely.)

Keep the rest of your instructions in whichever language your team maintains best; the model follows mixed-language system prompts reliably, and the reply language follows this line.

Test before launch

  1. Collect 30 or more real Russian messages, including short, misspelt and mixed-language ones.
  2. Have a fluent speaker grade replies for correctness, register and naturalness; then calibrate a rubric grader on their grades (Evaluate).
  3. Check rendering in your actual UI: line breaks, truncation and fonts.
  4. Re-run the set whenever you change the prompt or the model.
