Syntic Code (CLI)

Syntic Code is Syntic’s AI coding agent. It runs in your terminal, reads your project, edits files and runs commands with your permission, and uses the same Amara models as the API. It is a finished tool rather than a library: reach for it when you want help writing code, and for the API when you are building a product of your own.

Syntic Code has its own documentation at code.syntic.ai/docs, covering installation, sign-in, permissions, configuration and every command.

Install and sign in

curl -fsSL https://app.syntic.ai/install | sh
syntic login

syntic login opens a browser so you can sign in with your Syntic account. Other platforms, update channels and sign-in options are covered in the Syntic Code docs.

How Syntic Code relates to the API

  • Same endpoint. Syntic Code sends its requests to the same chat completions endpoint documented in the API reference, so the same limits and error codes apply.
  • Same account and billing. Its usage counts against your organization’s plan allowance and usage credits, exactly like API traffic. See Usage & cost.
  • No API key needed. Signing in with your Syntic account is enough. Sign-in tokens are rate-limited per user rather than per key.
  • Keys for automation. On servers and CI, Syntic Code can read a credential from the SYNTIC_API_KEY environment variable instead of a browser sign-in. Keys whose names start with sk_syntic_ are created for Syntic Code; the API also accepts them on the same Authorization header as sk_live_ keys.

A SYNTIC_API_KEY set in your shell takes priority over your browser sign-in in Syntic Code. If you export the variable for your own scripts, Syntic Code will use it too, and bill that key’s organization.
